Coaching is about many things. However, it is principally about change, specifically the present and future. It is about developing emotional intelligence and conscious awareness. The process is diverse and expansive. It can cover a breadth of issues, such as dealing with the immediate obstacles preventing growth, personal communication and impact, and building the vision and plan against a life’s dream and goal.

Have you felt like things in your life are not what you expected? Or that things are not happening the way you hoped or planned? You may be struggling with a specific issue or with a vague sense of feeling unsettled or dissatisfied. Either way, you are not alone. Many people struggle with the clash between their expectations and the reality they live in.

I am a retired midwife with fifteen years of experience working with expecting individuals and families in the Quinte area. As a midwife, I loved supporting people in navigating the complex emotions and unexpected realities of pregnancy, birth and new parenting, and with pregnancy-related grief and loss. I changed careers to focus on this area of work and have gained additional experience working in the hospital, providing counselling support to individuals and caregivers processing and adjusting to a significant medical diagnosis or critical medical events. In both roles, I have walked with people in situations they did not ask for or desire to find meaning and purpose amidst their unexpected reality.

I believe that quality therapy includes being treated with dignity, having your perspective heard, discovering the values that motivate you and being empowered to create meaningful change. I primarily work with individual adults using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT). You are unique, and I will work with you to discover what style suits your personality and needs.

If this resonates with you, please book a 20-minute consult to see if we are a good fit. I look forward to meeting you, hearing your story, and joining you in discovering what your satisfying and fulfilling life looks like.

Are you a Veteran looking for support?

Or has your child or teen been struggling with emotions, behaviours, or challenges that feel overwhelming? Do you find yourself unsure of how to support them best? Whether they are facing a specific diagnosis, experiencing anxiety or frustration, or simply feeling stuck, you are not alone. Many families and young people navigate these difficulties, and the right support can make all the difference.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a Registered Social Service Worker (RSSW) with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP). My passion is working with children, teens, and young adults, helping them understand their emotions, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to thrive. I have extensive experience supporting individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), and those who have experienced trauma or traumatic brain injuries (TBI/ABI).

In addition to working with youth, I also support veterans navigating life’s complexities after service. Having served for 25 years as an Aeromedical Flight Medic in the military, I understand the challenges of transitioning to civilian life, managing trauma, and finding new purpose. My experience allows me to offer a compassionate, understanding approach to veterans seeking support for mental health, trauma, or adjustment difficulties.

I believe every person deserves to be seen, heard, and valued for who they are. My approach is warm, supportive, and tailored to each individual’s unique needs.

I offer both in-person sessions in Belleville and virtual support. If this sounds like the right fit, let’s talk. I look forward to meeting you.

I know how challenging it can be to walk a wellness path alone. It can be difficult to find someone to talk to who understands you and meets your needs. I believe that therapy should fit the person, so I strive to collaborate with clients and work with them based on their culture, beliefs, values, and clinical judgment.

I will bring life experience to our sessions. I have worked in numerous agencies, including community health centres, the legal field (criminal and family courts), and victim services. I have also served on many boards and committees in various roles, so I understand the challenges of interacting with families and teams. Dealing with conflict and setting boundaries can be stressful, but it is possible with the right tools!

In addition, my life experiences, education and work history help provide the momentum for my passion for working with adolescents and adults with PTSD, Complex PTSD, trauma symptoms, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, traumatic grief and loss, and a variety of other life transitional issues.

Meet Jake, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Addiction Counsellor. With a passion for guiding individuals towards healing and self-discovery, he specializes in working with addiction, trauma, spiritual abuse, anxiety, depression, and the challenges that accompany these issues. Jake spent five years facilitating group counselling in the non-profit sector before becoming a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Addiction Counsellor in early 2022. He has earned a B.A. in Legal Studies, minoring in Alternative Dispute Resolution, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Family Mediation, and a Master of Divinity in Clinical Counselling. His unique combination of educational and work experiences helps him serve a wide variety of clients.

Drawing from a diverse range of therapeutic modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), Jake works to help individuals understand what is going on inside of them, and move towards healing and thriving. He is an avid learner and brings that love of learning to the therapeutic process, teaching clients how to translate what happens in session into other aspects of their lives. His mission is to create a safe and compassionate space where you can explore your experiences, develop the tools that you need to heal and grow, and create a meaningful life that you enjoy.

He is particularly passionate about helping clients with depression, anxiety, grief, aimlessness, isolation, trauma, family challenges, and relationship issues. He hopes that as clients explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences, they will better understand their values and discover a way of living in line with them. This brings healing and gives clients a path forward that empowers them and builds healthy connections with other people.

One of Jake’s underlying philosophies is that human beings have an innate capacity to heal, grow, and connect with others in a meaningful way. Part of the aim of therapy is to explore and address whatever is preventing someone from engaging in this capacity to empower them to self-direct their own healing and growth.

Jake is an avid coffee drinker, record collector, and pro-wrestling enthusiast. He spends much of his spare time cooking vegan meals, lifting weights, and spending quality time with his wife, Megan, and their retired racing greyhounds, Harvey and Minni.
